This time of year in the Northwest
the mountains are still covered in snow.
We are having unusually beautiful
weather and this is what I see on
my drive toward home

Mount St. Helen's
When I was a child we would go
to Mt. St. Helen's and camp. We
would fish on the gorgeous Spirit Lake.
When we moved away I missed my
beautiful mountain.
After returning to the northwest as
an adult, I lived in Portland, OR. when
Mt. St. Helen's blew her top. I saw my
lovely mountain explode and later I saw
the devastation. But I still love her. She
is an old friend, and as an old friend I
see her beauty and the joy she brings to me.
For those of you far away, here she is, all
dressed up in white. |

What a beautiful thought!
I get to admire Mt. Hood on my drive home from work. On crisp days it is like you could reach out and touch the top and I remember the day my son called from there, the first time he summitted. Hey Mom, guess where I am!
Oh Annette! I didn't realize it was YOU! Wooohoooo! Oh yes......May 18th... What a DAY! So dark in the middle of the day. I was terrified all that ash was going to ruin our little car. I'd STILL worry about that, actually. My little dog was born on May 18th... totally forgot her birthday until it was past. Ooops.. No birthday bones for her.
Have a great week!
